Yagan Sasman had to prove himself at Naturena

Chiefs spent their last couple of months working quietly behind the scenes when Yagan Sasman penned a three-year deal. Before he got a deal, he had to push his limits to prove himself to the coach. He signed with the Glamour Boys back in July, when they learned he was available as a free transfer. This versatile defender was their fifth and final signing of the season.

Yagan missed the early part of the season due to the suspension that carried over from his time at Ajax Cape Town. The 23-year-old defender is slowly working his way into Ernst Middendorp’s plans. It seems that Ernst Middendorp has plans to use him in a different position to the one that fans used to see him in. Check the latest psl results south africa to see Amakhosi‘s standings.

Yagan Sasman on his ‘rightful position’

Yagan Sasman has regularly been utilised in a position of a left-back over the course of his career so far. Despite that fact, Middendorp revealed that he thinks his ‘rightful position’ would be on the left side of the central defence.
The former Urban Warrior had a lot of work to do in order to persuade the German coach and his assistant, Shaun Bartlett that he is the right man for the job. “Basically, Coach Shaun and coach Ernst didn’t know me at all so throughout that period I basically had to prove myself and secure my spot within the team. That as well followed me and obviously, I watched a few games of mine in the PSL. I had some video footage to watch on youtube and things and they were impressed.”

I also sent some of the videos to them before I came to the trial at all, so yeah, that made them happy. At the same time, I had a need to prove myself and express my football abilities here.” – Sasman said for the media after the announcement of the signing. Sasman will be hoping to get another start under his belt on Saturday afternoon. He will return back to his hometown for a Telkom Knockout challenge clash with Cape Town City.
