Stellies didn’t do well at the Cape Town Stadium on Tuesday, as they lost to Bloemfontein Celtic 2-1. Currently, they are at the 15th place in the PSL results log and not improving much. When they started slowly rising from the bottom, fans have put their hopes up but it seems that in this season there won’t be significant changes.
Mogamad De Goede returned from suspension and Robyn Johannes just retained the captaincy. Of course, we can’t forget a new signing Ovidy Karuru who is on the bench. Celtic already got their boost in the form of Victor Letsoalo.
Stellies lost despite fierce efforts
Just after four minutes into the game, Stellies rushed to the front but the cross from Marc Van Heerden fell to Ryan Moon who pulled off an amazing header over Jackson Mabokgwane. The visitors were still struggling in 17th minute as Waseem Isaacs approached closer to double his side’s lead and a tee-up from Moon was following.
Bloemfontein Celtic won the first round encounter in the Free State but that didn’t save them here. They pushed hard for the equalizer in the latter stages of the half – but Stellenbosch was taking this seriously. Right after halftime, Lehlohonolo Seema made a double change. He brought in Andile Fikizolo and Given Mashikinya, sacrificing Mbhazima Rikhtoso and Tebogo Potsane. Siwelele managed to get back just four minutes later with a great finish from Mzwanele Mahashe, after the delivery from Lantshane Phalane.
In order to regain the lead, Steve Barker turned to his backup power and gave Karuru his debut. He sacrificed Diego Franco just a minute later. Boy De Jong continuously called into action and Bloemfontein Celtic was constantly leaning towards the second goal in the evening. In the final nine minutes, the struggle finally finished as Ndumiso Mabena hit the winning goal after the home side got silent in the back.
This victory pulled the Celtic up to the seventh spot. If you are getting ready for the next fixture, don’t forget to check new offers on supabets! Use the amazing features and bet over your phone – any time you want.
