Shock lose for Bucs’ in Cape Town

Orlando Pirates has again problems in the Absa Premiership after a loss against Stellenbosch FC at the Cape Town Stadium. Bucs’ lose in this game 0-1.

Pirates coach Rhulani Mokwena played with the same formation as in the game in Telkom Knockout. Same players, only Happy Jale was out because of suspension. He was replaced by Alfred Ndengane. Coach Steve Barker make a change on the goal, he re-called goalkeeper Boy de Jong, but also he makes changes in the team. Now we can see Robyn Johannes, Marc van Heerden, Waseem Isaacs.

It looks like Rhulani had a wrong tactic. If we look at everything, I could bet on Betway South Africa that he needs to make some changes. Only like that, they will play better. Who knows, maybe they will win? But we can only guess.

How did Bucs’ play?

Bucs’ had a great start with a lot of energy and rhythm. In the 15th minute, they have a great chance when they almost scored a goal. Mabasa comes to the goal, but with his low shot, he missed the corner of the goal.

However, only six minutes later Pirates gifted the opening goal for Stelles when Ndengane gifted the ball to Iqraam Rayners. He didn’t waste the chance, he creates space before firing a low effort past Wayne Sandilands from the edge of the box.

Until the end of the first half, Bucs’ created a lot of chances, but Stelles had one great defense. Probably everyone was shocked how well they play in the defense.

In the second half, Mokwena’s troops were still creating a lot of chances after some changes in the Stelles team. But still, they have a great defense. Bucs’ didn’t have a chance against them.

The Buccaneers almost lose with two goals. Stellenbosch had one great chance when van Heerden send a shot from inside of his own half. Luckily for Pirates, their stopper menage to keep this ball in his hands.

Still, Pirates had a chance to end this game with an equalizing score 12 minutes before the end of the game. But Thabiso Monyane hit the outside of the post.

At the end of the game, the same player had another great chance. But he didn’t score. Stellenbosch took their second win in this season. With this win, they pass the Orlando Pirates on the PSL log.
