Real Madrid’s Rodrygo is the “new Neymar”

Zidane paid a tribute to the Brazillian teenager Rodrygo who was labelled as a new “Neymar”. What made him famous was his hat-trick during Real’s 6-0 Champions League win over Galatasaray.

This 18-year became the youngest player who scored a Champions League Treble. He is behind the only Real legend Raul. The former Santos striker managed to pull off two goals withing the seven minutes from opening at Bernabeu Stadium.

So far, those were the fastest two goals in the Champions League history, completing his treble in the stoppage time to finish off breathtaking evening’s work. Outside of South America, little was known about Rodrygo before he switched to Real. Since his transfer, he scored five times in first six appearances for the club.

Zidane; “Rodrygo plays well in every sense.”

Hearing the Bernabeu sing my name is a dream come true. I am so happy and it was a joyous night but I have to try and stay calm.” – Rodrygo said. Zidane followed him with a statement; “We are happy for him as in the end when he gets his chance to play he plays well. He did the same tonight. He plays well in every sense. We know that his qualities are felt in the attack but he is working hard in defence as well. Now we only need to keep calm and not put any pressure on him.”

After he scored the fastest ever league goal by Real debutant he got his name etched into the European record books. He just needed four minutes to fire his side in front, with his left foot, helping himself to a second just three minutes later. Fullback Marcelo provided the ammunition on both of the occasions as Galatasaray got picked off repeatedly at the back.

After they got invited to Steve Nzonzi’s challenge on Toni Kroos, German match official Felix Zwayer pointed to the spot. Ramos resisted the temptation to allow Rodrygo to complete his quick hat-trick, which resulted in penalty over keeper Fernando Miuslera to make it 3-0.

Rodrygo turned provider on the stroke of half-time, point out another Galatasaray error to make it 4-0. Benzema passed up two opportunities but completed the rout from Frenchman’s through the ball with his right foot. He made his own piece of history by equalling and surpassing Alfred di Stefano’s 49 European Cup goals. However, he knew that this was Rodrygo’s night.
