Muhsin Ertugral – they can’t decide the league winner yet

Former Kaizer Chiefs boss, Muhsin Ertugral thinks that it is too early to decide the league winners yet. He shared his thoughts on the suspended Premier Soccer League, saying that championships can’t be crowned now and it would not be the fair decision of the league’s governing body.

The Premier Soccer League remains suspended after a coronavirus outbreak. Ertugral believes that it is better to still wait a little bit to see how Germany and England will resume their seasons. On the other hand, the Netherlands have been warned that they might have legal challengers after they decided to declare the season null and void.

France took the easier approach and decided to hand the trophy to Paris St. Germain. Ertugral told for the news that he remains busy with the Turkish League and he analyzed Germany and England. He said that France and Holland have a different solution which will create huge problems later on, with the clubs getting to court.

Muhsin Ertugral believes it will be bad for the league to declare a winner at this moment

South African football fraternity has divided opinions on whether should they crown the current champions, Kaizer Chiefs or not. Ertugral responded that they need to think about what decision would be the best for the league. He is convinced that cancelling the season completely is a much better idea. “To give a title for a season that wasn’t completed is very bad for the league. However, the best way to solve this is to finalize behind closed doors. That is what Germany is trying to accomplish.”

This will be an emotional situation for Chiefs but for everyone else as well. Chiefs did their efforts and Mamelodi Sundowns are just behind their feet. All their effort in this season could just be thrown away. Of course, there are also other teams who have no chances to win at all. So, this might feel like a relief for some.

We need to wait for the results of the meeting from PSL, South African Football Association and government to decide when will the season continue. The safety is now the biggest issue here so the league must think of everything before they move on.

At this point, the Amakhosi are standing on the top of the table with 48 points from 22 matches, while Sundowns are behind them by four points and one game less. SuperSport United and Orlando Pirates are sharing the third place as they both have 40 points. Check the PSL results log to see more.
