Kaizer Chiefs manager, Ernst Middendorp was impressed with how his troops acted in a match against Usuthu as they claimed their fourth PSL win. The German coach believes that the referees did an exceptional job as they bounced back to winning ways in the Premier Soccer League with the victory against AmaZulu on Tuesday.
The two goals which came from Leonardo Castro and Khama Billiat gave Kaizer Chiefs the win while Usuthu ended up winless in this season so far. AmaZulu did score two goals, with Ovidy Karuru and Bonginkosi Ntuli but those were ruled offside.
On the other part, AmaZulu’s coach Jozef Vukusic was still proud of his team and impressed how they approached the Soweto giants. For a full history on these teams, brose Soccer10.
Middendorp and Vukusic’s statements
“It was quite hectic and I think the referees did a good job. I understand you’re fighting to stay in the league in the way AmaZulu is handling the game, it’s good but we messed it up after dominating in the first 30 minutes,” Middendorp stated recalling the game.
The Amakhosi manager said they had a lot of opportunities but they got back in the second half where they could press and move forward. He is convinced that his team got well deserved three points. “There was a moment 10-15 minutes before the goal where Kearyn Baccus was showing a groin problem, then the injury of Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya came in”; he added.
“The team had to change a little bit but Baccus and the rest of the players we are having now, it’s a very good combination at the moment. Players like Leonardo are coming in, it’s a very clear factor to get this first goal – I’m very happy for Leonardo.”
In the meantime, the Slovakian manager Vukusic did not mince his words reacting to their two goals that were disallowed and adjudged. The 55-year.old has only praised his players for their gallant fight.
“It was a good game, a little physical but it’s normal against a tough opponent. They really pushed us in the first half. We only had one or two opportunities to score but we improved in the second half,”; Vukusic added. Check Amakhosi and Usuthu’s standings in PSL log.
