Kaizer Chiefs news today – Arthur Zwane tells his story

The former Kaizer Chiefs star, Arthur Zwane has given some insight into his career after he stepped up to Bafana Bafana.

This well-known legend has made his name at Naturena where he spent a decade before his retirement. Since then, he is using his experience and knowledge to help out the club’s MultiChoice Diski Challenge team. Zwane has certainly taken his time to go through the ranks over the years so let’s find out what happened in that period.

Arthur has finally decided to share his story about the circumstances regarding his career path and spoke about the beginnings in the club.

This 45-year-old started his career at Bafana Bafana in 2000 and ended in 2010. Currently, he is working his way through the UEFA coaching badges after he acquired his CAF A and B licences. His work was rewarded this month when he got a call up to work with Molefi Ntseki for their game against Zambia.


Although he was all prepared, the encounter with Chipolopolo and later a replacement match with Madagascar were both called off. However, it was still an important step for the coach as he aimed to climb up the coaching ladder.

Arthur spoke on his website a bit more about the history of his progress, focusing on younger teams „ While growing up in Meadowlands, I was approached by the local youngsters to assist them with coaching their team.” He stated that they were already involved in playing in the local tournaments, however, they had a big problem with organisation. Zwane was able to bring a bit of structure into the team and they instantly gave the best of themselves.

Managing the discipline

“Discipline was the first step in my talk with them. I addressed with them issues of alcohol and substance abuse. They responded well and started to become more committed and dedicated to their game.” – said Zwane. He went on to speak that he was already involved into Meadowlands Galatasaray while still playing with Chiefs.

He stated that everything he learned in Chiefs as a player he can now use to help youngsters. Arthur is giving them a chance to improve their game and develop their skills. „We were winning tournaments. I recall the Discovery Tournament which we dominated over a period of four years. All this happened between 2001 and 2007.”

Arthur Zwane will get back on the bench for K. Chiefs side this weekend when they try to build the 7-1 demolition of Bloemfontein Celtic when they go up against Polokwane City.
