Kaizer Chiefs; New long-term deal for Star Duo

Kaizer Chiefs came up with great news for all of their fans, announcing that their new long-term deal for one of their most in-form players of this season is becoming a reality.

Eric ‘Tower’ Mathoho has penned a new, three year deal at Naturena. That means he is staying here for certain – at least for another three years after the current campaign. He is set to be around the Glamour Boys until the end of June in 2023.

Hopefully, Eric will keep himself in this shape and maintain his nickname the ‘Tower’. Many fans will feel relief after this decision so let’s see the further details about this deal. In case you still haven’t seen the Chief’s new kit, check it out on Soccer 10.

Chiefs announcing the deal

The club has announced the decision on their social media accounts right after the deal. In the meantime, this 29-year old was rekindling his old form which caught the attention of Bafana Bafana. They called him back into the club right after he signed with Chiefs.

Eric Mathoho is a central defender from Tshiombo near Thohoyandou. He joined Chiefs in 2012 and later suffered a shoulder dislocation which had an impact on his career. In international, he made his debut for South Africa on 14 May 2011 versus Tanzania in an international friendly game.

Of course, you might sense that this is not the end of the story because we mentioned the Star Duo. Besides Mathoho, Chiefs also announced that Dumisani Zuma who played in all four of Chief’s Absa Premiership games this season has also peened the new three-year deal. So, there will be one more player who will play with Amakhosi for three more seasons until the end of the 2022/2023 campaign.

Both of these players have been regularly called upon by the team’s coach, Ernst Middendorp in the current campaign. At this point, Chiefs have climbed to the top of the Absa Premiership table and they are expected to feature once again this weekend. Now they are looking to celebrate the deals they made together with win over Polokwane City on Saturday evening. Check PSL fixtures so you can prepare to see these players in action.
