Kaizer Chiefs’ loss over the weekend

The Kaizer Chiefs coach, Ernst Middendorp doesn’t want to blame the international break for Chiefs’ loss over the weekend. However, he feels like they should have got at least one penalty.

Chiefs got beaten 1-0 on Saturday evening and they tasted defeat for the first time in this season. This made Polokwane City the first team in 2019/2020 season that stopped them from scoring. It seems like they lost their touch for a moment and if they want to recover from this, they will have to act fast.

Between the games, Chiefs had an 18-day wait due to their absence from the MTN8 and the international break which could interfere with their performance. Middendorp believes that they deserved something from the game at Football National Stadium and he mentioned one moment in particular.

Ernst Middendorp on penalty calls

Ernst Middendorp said; “I thought we deserved something from the match. If you consider we had two big penalty calls. Especially looking at Khama’s incident, it was unfortunate we didn’t get that call.”

“The FIFA international break didn’t take much from our game. it is a matter of fact that a break has some impact, but it is part of the game”; said Ernst.

At this moment, Chiefs have another week or two between the games before they can finally recover from defeat against Polokwane. Together with struggling AmaZulu, the Glamour Boys will be the next team who will have to fight for a better place in Absa Premiership.

On Tuesday, 24th of September, we can look forward to the match between AmaZulu and Kaizer Chiefs. Hopefully, Chiefs will recover until that time as they have a long way to go to fix their results.

Kaizer Chiefs still need to face Baroka and Golden Arrows before their match against Mamelodi Sundowns. If they manage to win, it will be a great boost for them.

However, Mamelodi Sundowns are dominating in Absa Premiership so Kaizer Chiefs will have to push to their limits if they want to win this season.

Hopefully, they will look back into the 2014/2015 season and do the same magic they did back then. Watch PSL results and find out what will happen. For more facts about Kaizer Chiefs, browse Soccer 10.
