James Kotei linked with another club besides Tanzania

Despite James Kotei being on the verge of a return to Tanzania, he surprised everyone with his link to another club. Kaizer Chiefs midfielder will be sacrificed to make room for another player; Anthony Akumu who was just last month released by Zambian giants ZESCO United.

Kotei arrived in Dar es Salaam to get the negotiations to the end with a top-flight side Young Africans SC (who are also known as Yanga). The 26-year-old player was previously linked with a return to his former club Simba SC. He was playing for Simba just before he joined Amakhosi at the start of this season.

However, because of the foreign quota limitations, the arch-rivals Yanga stepped in to lure the player across their stable. Since then, Kotei was linked with a potential switch to ZESCO, who are reportedly eager to replace Akumu. After Kaizer Chiefs won over Cape Town City 3-0 at the FNB Stadium on this Sunday, Ernst Middendorp confirmed that Kotei’s whereabouts are still unknown.

Kotei disappeared from the training last week and nobody was sure what was the exact reason. “Actually, I don’t know. I can’t give you the answer about where he could be with which you could be satisfied. He was not present at the training session this morning.” – Middendorp confirmed.

“I don’t know where was he yesterday, as he was absent as well. That was the first part. I don’t know where he is or what is on stake.” – Ernst stated about Kotei’s absence. Highlights of James Kotei’s performance. He had great skills of a defender but didn’t find himself
in other roles. Unfortunately, Chiefs decided to replace him with another player
which might be one of the reasons he is missing his training lately. Chiefs expected much more from him
during the signing at the start of the season.
