Chippa United F.C. is a famous South African football club. Its headquarters are in Porth Elizabeth, on the east end of the Cape. Previously, the headquarters were in Cape Town, Nyang Suburbs. While the reserve team is playing in another PSL League, the main team is competing in the Premier Soccer League. PSL is the national association in charge of managing two football divisions. One involves the National First Division, other the South African Premier Division.

The Premier Soccer League or PSL is affiliated with the South African Football Federation. Teams competing in the PSL compete in the SAFA Second Division. PSL organizes league competitions; MTN8, Telkom Knockout Cup, NFD. Previously, they organized the Charity Cup, which took place from 1986 to 2010. The Baymed Cup was just for the First Division sides, but only until 2006.

NSL is a special member of the federation. It consists of 32 members, of which 16 are clubs in the First Division and 16 are in the Premier Division. When was Chippa United formed? Chippa United exists since 2010 when Chippa Mpengesi purchased a Vodacom franchise for R400,000. Cosmos won promotion at the end of the 2008/2009 season and launched a campaign in the Vodacom League. After the 2010/2011 season, the club started competing under the name Chippa United. The first season was a success. The club won Western Cape Vodacom. They won the Vodacom League National Champions.


They made their debut season in the National First Division in second place. Club did it with players from the University of Pretoria. The Chippa Club won the Premie League via play-offs. After 2012 and winning the PL in the 2012/2013 season, the club finished 15th. When they failed to win the payoffs they eventually relegated.

The Peace Makers franchise was owned by the club for some time. Part of the club then competed in the second SAFA division, which included a junior team in the Cape Town Junior Competitions. The franchise was then sold to Milano United before the 2013/2014 season. The youngest members of the club train and play at the Port Elizabeth Football Association in Porth Elizabeth. During the early seasons, the club used the Philippi Stadium from 2009 to 2011. After the club entered the PSL, the stadium was no longer an appropriate venue for matches. Therefore, the decision was to play matches at several stadiums such as Eastern Cape, East London, Buffalo City Stadium, Eastern Cape, Porth Elizabeth, Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium can accommodate up to 46,000 visitors. It is located near Eastern Cape in Port Elizabeth. The construction of the stadium cost R2 trillion or $ 159 million.
