All you need to know about Euro 2020 play-offs

In the Euro 2020 play-offs, we can see sixteen nations. All of them will bee fighting for the last four places on the Euro 2020. It looks complicated but here you will find everything you need to know.

In the first place, we need to find out who will be fighting for these spots. Some of the teams which we can see in the 16 nations who have secured second chances are Scotland, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland. This is only a couple of teams who will fight for their spot on Euro 2020 next March in play-offs.

We can see these 16 teams in the four groups. These groups are not full right now, but still, we can see some team who will be for sure in some of them. In the first group A, we can see Iceland. In group B we know who will compete. Here are Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovakia, Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland.

Euro 2020 play-off format

Euro 2020 play-off format is similar to play-offs in EFL. The highest-ranked team will host the fourth-ranked team, while second-ranked will host the third-ranked team. The host of the final in each play-off will be drawn by UEFA. The draw will be on November 22, 2019.

Actually, the format is simple, winners from each game will be playing in the final game. Winners from that final game will play go onEuro 2020. if we don’t have a winner in the regular time, they will play extra time or if is needed penalties will be used to determine a winner.

Let’s take one example. We will use group D because here we have all the teams. In the first game, we will see Georgia as a first ranked team playing against worst-ranked team Belarus. In the second game, we can see North Macedonia playing against Kosovo. Winners from these two games will play in one final game. The winner from the final game will be qualified for Euro.

In the play-offs semi-final games, we can enjoy on March 26, 2020, while the final games will be played on March 31.
