Stellenbosch fend off Golden Arrows with a draw

On Saturday Afternoon in the Absa Premiership match, Stellenbosch FC was again left without a victory but at least it wasn’t another loss. Golden Arrows squandered their two-goal lead in the 2-2 draw at home. Check the PSL fixtures log on Soccer 10 table .

Arrows had a great start from Sibusiso Sibeko and Knox Mutizwa up front while Danny Vanter had an impressive 50th appearance for them. Stellenbosch desperately needs a win in this season so wther this draw saved their coaches career is still left in question.

Stellenbosch pulled off a draw

In the first 10 minutes, Abafana Besthendehit the front when Mutizwa caught the visitors napping while beating the offside trap to finish beyond an advancing Boy De Jong. Stellenbosch showed up with decent but interesting attack moves in the last third but the Arrows stopped their every intention.

On the half-hour mark, Mutizwa grabbed a brace in the identical fashion as he once again went clear with De Jong for a bottom low execution. This Zimbabwean worked his was closer to a hat-trick with nine to the break. Despite the effort, he only found the side-netting with Morgan Gould and De Jong on his toes.


Stellies managed to put up a strong start into the second half launching their first effort at goal with Leletu Skelm, but Edmore Sibanda handled easily. Visitors brought the first substitution, introducing Ryan Moon for Skelm five minutes from the interval. Stellies pulled a goal back on 60minutes through dangerman Iqraam Rayners. He managed to display a striker’s instinct for the bottom low finish from a tight angle.

After three minutes, Moon levelled matters when he beat Sibanda to a looping ball from the back before head into an empty net. De Jong showed with a strong save after Mahlatse Makhudubela started to work in the area. Sibeko got sacrifised in the final 20minutes while Steve Komphela went for the kill and introduced Lerato Lamola from the bench.
